How You Can Help

The Blue Ridge Brutal is a fundraiser for the Ashe Advantage Project, a scholarship program for local students. As such, to maximize the benefit we need to minimize the cost of running the event. One of our most significant requirements is good people to help in many areas. If you can find the time to help organize, run, or assist in any way, we would greatly appreciate it.

Here is a sample of some of the areas in which we need help, together with some indication of the maximum time commitment:

  • Putting all the goodies in the goody bags each rider will get – One morning
  • Putting out the direction signs prior to the Ride – One day
  • Sweeping selected parts of the Rides to clear gravel etc. – One day
  • Standing at key junctions to direct riders and assist with safety – Ride day
  • Helping at some rest stops – Ride day
  • Helping at post-Ride refreshments/entertainment – Post Ride
  • Driving after last rider along route 163 with sign "CAUTION – CYCLISTS AHEAD" – Ride morning

Volunteers will receive a free commemorative t-shirt and a $10 meal voucher redeemable at any of the on-site food trucks or participating West Jefferson restaurants the day of the event. If you feel you can help, please email us using the form below or call 336-846-9550.
